George Simmons is a famous stand-up comic, who learns that he has a terminal illness and less than a year to live. He meets Ira, a struggling comedian at a club where both are performing. George hires Ira to be his personal assistant and opening act at his gigs. They develop a close relationship as George helps Ira with his career and Ira helps George come to terms with his karma. Then George learns that his disease has gone into remission and an ex comes back  his life, with the result that he’s inspired to re-assess what has value for him and what really gives meaning to his life.
