Will Ferrell stars as washed-up scientist Dr. Rick Marshall, transported back through time. A long time. Marshall has no weapons, few skills and questionable intelligence to enable him to survive in a parallel universe full of wandering dinosaurs and mythical creatures from beyond our world—a place of incredible sights and mammoth comedy known as the Land of the Lost.
With him for the adventure are research assistant Holly (Anna Friel) and a gung-ho survivalist (Danny McBride) named Will. Harrassed by T. Rex and hunted by painfully slow reptiles known as Sleestaks, Marshall, Will and Holly must rely on their only friend —a primate called Chaka (Jorma Taccone)—to find their way out of this alternative world. Escape from this supposedly humdrum expedition gone haywire and they’re heroes. Get left behind, and they’ll be forever languishing in the Land of the Lost.
